Pregnancy, birth and postnatal period

This package is offered for clients who would like continuity with their midwives from 24 weeks gestation and who are looking for additional support whilst exploring options or preparing for a home birth. We can discuss with you your intentions and queries and create a care plan for you, ensuring you have access to the advice, birth options and support you would like. We offer dedicated bespoke care with access to your midwife 8am-8pm for routine queries and in emergencies throughout your pregnancy birth and postnatal period.

Initial consultation by phone/video.

Booking Appointment with midwifery review appropriate for your gestation including information about screening options and place of birth intentions.

Antenatal midwifery care. All appointments are offered at home and after your booking appointment, the schedule of meetings is usually at 28, 30, 32, 34, 36, then weekly until birth. Midwifery well-being checks include taking your blood pressure, urine analysis, abdominal palpation assessing position and growth, and auscultation of baby’s heart rate. Holistic and therapeutic input will be provided at all appointments based on your individual needs and circumstances.

Preparation for birth education Both Rebecca & Debbie are accredited real birth company teachers. They will cover topics at appropriate antenatal sessions to provide you with a good understanding of birth physiology. It may also be possible to arrange small group sessions.

Birth Preparation Session at 36 weeks gestation (approximately 2.5 hours) to discuss and document your birth plan combined with your routine midwifery checks.

Labour and birth midwifery care. On-call support and attendance at your birth at your chosen location (home or hospital) from 37 weeks gestation until your baby’s birth! Care can include early labour assessment, and will include support and advocacy for physiological birth. A second midwife will attend a Home Birth.

Postnatal Midwifery Care: Visits from your midwives at home during a 4-week period following your birth. Frequent visits in the first week and extended postnatal support thereafter with visits provided initially at days 1,2, 3, 5, 7 and 10 then 14 depending on weight gain, feeding support required and maternal well-being. Visits are then once weekly for the remaining 2 weeks of care. We can also conduct the Newborn bloodspot screening test.

Access to your named midwife throughout the duration of Services with telephone support.

Referral arranged if necessary to an appropriate clinician or senior midwife at your booking hospital.
