Pregnancy, birth and postnatal period

This package is offered for clients who may have had a baby before or have come to private midwifery later in pregnancy and who are looking for additional support and continuity alongside the NHS or private care they are receiving. We can discuss with you your intentions and queries and create a care plan for you, ensuring you have access to the advice, birth options and support you would like. We offer dedicated bespoke care with access to your midwife 8am-8pm for routine queries and in emergencies throughout your pregnancy birth and postnatal period.

Initial consultation by phone/video due to COVID restrictions.

Booking Appointment with midwifery review appropriate for your gestation including information about screening options and place of birth intentions

Antenatal midwifery care. All appointments are offered at home and after your booking appointment, the schedule of appointments can be established. Care usually is booked to start from 34 weeks gestation then further appointments at 36 weeks and then weekly until birth. Midwifery well-being checks with consent of your blood pressure, urine analysis, abdominal palpation assessing position and growth, and auscultation of baby’s heart rate.

Real Birth Company training Both Rebecca & Debbie are accredited real birth company teachers and will cover topics at appropriate antenatal sessions to provide you with a good understanding about birth physiology.

Birth Preparation Session at 36 weeks gestation (approximately 2 hours) to discuss your birth plan combined with your routine midwifery checks.

Labour and birth midwifery care  On call support and attendance at your birth at your chosen location (home or hospital) from the 37 weeks gestation until your baby’s birth. Care may include early labour assessment, and support and advocacy for you including waterbirth and active birth support. A second midwife will attend a Home Birth

Postnatal Midwifery Care  Visits from your midwives at home during a 2 week period following your birth with frequent visits in the first week and postnatal support thereafter with visits provided initially at Day 1, 3, 5, 7, and two visits in the second week ending at Day 14 depending on weight gain, feeding support and maternal well-being. We can also conduct the Newborn bloodspot screening test.

Access to your named midwife throughout the duration of Services with telephone support for urgent advice and routine support 8am-8pm
